Veils Veins Void Premiere Weekend Recap

photos by Jake Armour

Looking back on our premiere weekend of Veils Veins Void, we could not be more thrilled and grateful for the reception of this first big company work. The Twin Cities community showed up to fill The Southern Theater each day, and the feedback we received was consistently filled with connection and emotion. An audience member and Twin Cities artist even wrote a beautiful and in-depth review about her personal experience of the performance, which you can read here.

This piece truly took audience members on a journey with the dancers, moving through visceral landscapes and dramatic choreography by Ruby Josephine Smith, and getting swept up in the incredible musical score composed by Cooper Lee Smith. The hour-long work was created in an intensive 5-month process with 8 dancers, exploring the themes through conversations and movement research.

Ruby Josephine Dance Theater would like to say a huge thank you to The Southern Theater, Crash Dance Productions, Hothouse Studios, all of our founding financial contributors, and to everyone who showed up in support of this work. We could not have done it without our community, and we cannot wait for the next opportunity to present this work and more.
